Hi thanks for checking out my website. My name is Victoria Guillem and I am an experimental documentary filmmaker, a media arts educator, and a drummer. I am a first-generation Mestiza Ecuadorian born and raised in New York City.
In the last few years, I have been making personal, diaristic experimental films that connect directly to the experience of being a first-generation immigrant in the United States, being raised in a culture different from that of your parents, and the disconnect that creates across generations. I find that using experimental techniques expands my toolbox to tell the most effective emotional story. My film “Mutato/Rosie” (2022) was screened as part of the shorts program at Vancouver Latin American Film Festival, and my latest film “Todo” (2023) is an award finalist in the 2023 Oregon Film Festival.
